Hydrogen Hydrogen Everywhere

I've heard that it's not the inability to produce a hydrogen powered car(such cars, etc. are in operation) but the lack of hydrogen, is what is lacking, that is the supply stations that would provide this needed fuel. How can we get the needed R/D started to achieve such a goal?
