Lots of scientists have a lot invested in the green agenda and its diagnosis of worldwide ecologicl collapse. They dis not dispute Limborg in a reasoned way but piled on with any stick they could find. He was expelled from one of his Danish scientific aocieties, for example. My own opinion, for what little it's worth, is that he made some mistakes and presented spherical cow calculations with more authority than they deserved. But he did open up the discussion on the validity of the green diagnosis, and I think he basically succeeded in shooting it down. It had been a cozy deal for decades, you published "X is out of control blah blah in 20 years it will blah blah, if something isn't done blah blah we need more studies." And governments gave them money for more studies. Scientists who are now at their peaks got their degrees in the early 70s, and have spent their entire careers in this mode, and the younger scientists trained in the labs of the elders, learning that crisis and government funding were directly related.
