Usually, when I have tried to explain a physics concept I try to look back for the historical background and also the original author's own words. A good example is to an extent when it comes to explaining Maxwell, per say, I always mention his general conception, formulated in a era when Ether Theory was still king as compared to say, the Heaviside Modified version we now generally use. Most author's often fail to notice that his equations actually pointed to a background field. Now, if you take the SR modified version and add back in the quantum zero point field as a different background of sorts minus the absolute time, etc, then certain aspects, often pointed out by the outside of mainstream groups like those involving longitudal force, actually become possible with the added advantage you do not have to resort to Newtonian Ether Theory to derive them. The historical context of a theory and the Author's original ideas on a subject shed a lot of light we tend to overlook at times. The same goes for our general concepts of Cosmology which still have their roots in anchient past.
