Kinda depends how you define 'critical point' as its one of the most overused terms in mathematics. Typically a critical point has vanishing 2nd derivatives in the local coordinate system, but it could be any number of different things relating to different fields. A singularity comes in all shapes as well. You have functional singularities, manifold/metric singularities, topological singularities, so it depends what one is talking about. In the case of say a functional singularity, it could be an infinity, or say, being defined on R and going imaginary. Sometime its a relic of a bad choice of coordinate systems, sometimes its removable with residue theory, etc etc (Sorry if this is a little vague, im kinda drunk)
