Keep in mind there are many types of singularities.

Some are disastrous, eg you can't get around them, they usually imply a new topology.

Some are removable via contour integration and related techniques.

Some are the product of bad coordinate systems. Sometimes you can rewrite the metric into a new metric that is singularity free
