non-integer dimensions of physical or non-physical quantities

Apart from fractals, is there a field of physics, or beyond physics, where non-integer dimensions appear? What is the meaning, interpretation and use of such dimensions? Any connection with Dimensional Analysis? I would appreciate any references, comments, suggestions, ideas, clues, etc.
