Broken SUSY

Does SUSY attempt to pair _existing_ bosons and fermions
or propose new supersysmmetric partners ? I read something
yesterday about massive bosons, and rest mass seems a
strange thing for a boson to have. How would be partners
be coupled in the math model ?

As far as the breaking of the symmetry is concerned, how
is this relfected in the math model ? Would it become
part of the Standard Model or only apply to the string
formulation ?

I guess the short form of the question is:

1) What does SUSY mean physically and mathematically ?
How are the partners paired physically and in the
math model ?

2) How is SUSY broken both physically and in the math ?

Thanks.

Ron
