Sol, is not a zero 0 but a torus of form? and is it so,that a sphere is to the cylynder, as the line is to the square? a boundery function, I will find a paper I wrote, putting some ideas down while I was reading L Smolin's Three Roads.

Some weeks ago I came across three books detailing Celtic Design; knotwork, animal patterns and a begginers guide, great books, but my interest is how this artwork came about, it is evident in most culture's throught history.

It seems therre is some affinity with all who choose to seclude themselves from the outside world, such as monks etc. While this withdrawal removes a lot of normal everyday perceptions and granted behavior, the mind seems to thrive in producing geometric task building functions!..no matter which society or from ancient times, there seems to be a inner need to produce crafts such as in the Celtic tribes,or mandelas from the east, all that matters is the need to produce geometric design, all from within one's mind.

As for Gauss, I will have to return to that again, for now I leave you with a thought of a zip?...a small loop zip can never close! hope thats not to cryptic, just enough to guide a thought :)
