I agree with the other posters on the Feynman lectures. Another QM book I've greatly benefitted from is "Quantum Mechanics" by Bransden and Joachain. It starts with the basis of QM, the historical development and the usual introductory QM stuff like quantisation, Dirac notation, etc. It also has a lot of info on the more elaborate topics, like the interaction with radiation, the density matrix formalism, relativistic QM, the role of measurement in QM, and many more.
