Probably not. But parts of the universe can be isolated from each other in BB GR, from being too far apart for light to have traveled between them since the BB. Once they were close; their past light cones intersect, but they have drifted out of communication during inflation.

So then it's a logical possibility that one of these incommunicado segments might consist of a single string.
