This argument is the denial of the continuous functions which we work with. Just because we work with functions that have many points along an axsis does not mean that those separate points are actually point particles. If the background scalar potential is continuous and the restraints that are imposed are done with good reason, then the differential equations that give rise to eigenvalues that we interpret as characteristics of matter and force particles is a fair procedure which does not imply further decomposition. It may be that there is no other physical entities from which particles arise and that the physical particles are derived from principle alone
