Twistors and Superstrings

I read a 1988 book on Superstring theory. It describes an alternative approach called twistors, in which a twistor is a global object derived from some calculation of a twistor space. It was suggested in the book that twistors might someday be combined with Superstring theory. I was wondering about whether there has been any progress in using twistors in Superstring theory.

Thanks.
