The occult literature claims that you see the past in a cylindrical tunnel, somewhat like your fog. As you look down the tunnel, you see further and further into the past. Going down the tunnel and looking outwards you see 3-d space. I suppose that the future could be seen by going in the opposite direction in the tunnel. BTW, this is the tunnel you supposedly experience right after death.
