Go to http://groups.google.com/, and from the menu there select sci.

This brings you to a menu of groups that begin sci. Scroll down and select sci.physics. A new page appears with current posts on sci.physics at the bottom, and menus for further definition at the top.

The last item in the right hand menu is sci.physics.research.

I still do it that way rather than bookmarking the long URL at the end of the search because I like to bop around in some of the nearby groups.
