If you assume a model like GR, you must understand its root geometrically starting with Euclid, and what is the road to follow after this? I hope I have helped in this direction? The undersatanding exists that what Euclid did, was devise a system. Every postulate that followed, was based on the preceding one, until that is, they got to the fifth( quite a quandry here, yet not no more:) Saccheri had to assume the work done already by Eulcid(his model)and moves us to consider, and low and behold who has added to this understanding? There is strick logic here being applied. From GR, Kaluza changed things around for us, but he had to assume the basis of GR, as well as Euclid and those who followed. I have given you a consistent model in which to move forward with, and it is by understanding this history, that your next step, must move our considertaions forward. Smolin does this by adding Algebraic topology? Do you see now what is fundamental? I say first principles, and it is quite vague to some, but that is my work to clarify. Sol
