Kx21,

You know what's coming.
4) X particle: E = Y ( p > 0 & m > 0)

4a) X = Massive or Massless ? , and

4b) Y = ?

4a) From (4) X is massive, i.e. m > 0
4b) Y has not been defined.

The energy of X is precisely SQRT(p^2c^2 + m^2c^4) . Note that both p and m are greater than zero so both terms of the formula are present.

For example take an electron, with rest mass 9x10^-28 grams and momentum 9x10-20 gram-meters per second (i.e it's traveling at around 1/3 the speed of light).

Its energy is SQRT((9x10^-20)^2 x (3x10^8)^2 + (9x10^-28)^2 x (3x10^8)^4)

= SQRT(81x10^-40 x 9x10^16) + 81x10^-56 x 81x10^32)

= SQRT(729x10^-24 + 6561x10^-24)

= SQRT(7280x10^-24) = 85.3 x 10^-12 gram meters^2 per second^2.

We had this all out long ago, and your objections were never sensible (like that undefined Y in the middle of your argument).

Regards,
Dick
