many worlds theory questionPosted by plancktion on May 18, 2003 at 11:07:48: if a person is willing to accept the many worlds theory suggested by schroedingers cat and the 2 slit experiment, does that person automatically subscribe to the anthropomorphic theory (that the world as we observe it is the way it is because had the universe been in any way different we would not be here to observe it)? the idea of schroedingers cat require that an observation be made in order to collapse the wave function of any occurence... so in order for the many universes which could have propogated from the big bang onward it was required that an observer in one of those many worlds exist in order to collapse the universes wave function... as all particles in the universe travel every potential route until they are observed, so a coonscious observer with the ability to observe the universe is the only potential outcome of the quantum instability of our universe. can anyone find a way to subscribe to one of the theories without needing to accept such a line of logic? we have the empirical evidence of the two slit experiment, but these other theories seem to be inexorably tied to the experiment, at least to me. wuld appreciate anyones ideas on the subject.
