supposing that the "dreamer" of a self contained universe were to impart its existence to that of lesser parts of the consciousness, would those lesser parts instinctively have a unique understanding of their own existence? perhaps we are all born with a knowledge of the truth of reality, of who we are...

and in return for the possesion of such knowledge we are given boredom, given a puzzle that has already been solved.

why not take the puzzle apart again, indulge oneself in the glory of reassmbling what we already know. i think this is part of the beauty that physcisists and mathematicians find in a formula, the beauty is not the shape or form, but the recognition of the truth that is known somewhere inside a memory that has been locked away. one more piece of the puzzle fits, the picture is revealed more fully.

many times, as i lay in bed on the verge of sleep, i am given a revelation, i remember the truth... i know he world for what it is... but in those waning moments of consciousness i can not truly grasp it.

the artist Seurat, as an old man, sat by his son as he painted. he said to his son "i think i am finally beginning to understand", but never clarified what it is he understood. that night he died in his sleep. perhaps he meant something completely unrelated, but maybe, just maybe, he was unravelling the truth.
