good paper on mathematical quant mechPosted by Haelfix on October 02, 2003 at 02:58:52: This is paper that has a few good examples of what happens to a theory when physicists are sloppy. Its suitable for anyone who has an undergrad course of quantum mechanics. http://www.arxiv.org/abs/quant-ph?9907069 In quantum field theory, things are even more deadly. For instance, in the path integral formalism, there is careless use of operator ordering, only the Wiener measure gives a rigorous exact method (and there its obvious that one has to restrict the form the action can take). The Fadeev Popof (sp) method as originally derived, is completely inadmissible from a mathematical point of view, since they start integrating phases as if they were regular variables.
