MAGNETIC ROTATIONS & GAMMA RAYSPosted by dr_syed_ameen2000 on September 26, 2003 at 17:49:04: sept.26.2003 If the distribution of MASS and electric CHARGE in nucleus becomes non-spherical the Quantum mechanically, symmetry is broken and nuclei would rotate.A consequence of the collective rotation of deformed nuclei is a very regular pattern of emitted GAMMA RAYS,since it is a large electric quadripole moment which is rotating, the emmitted gamma rays are of multipolarity. The gamma rays were found in near-spherical lead isotopes. These gamma rays were showed to be with ENHANCED STRONG MAGNETIC DIPOLE CHARACTER.
