Even using the UT value for the string/wave velocity (c2 equivalent) the size of a photon would be limited by how much it could propagate laterally at that speed in the time it propagates linearly at c. Although I don't see how light could do what you say without taking an additional velocity into account, if it could obtain infinite size then I don't see why all light from the sun doesn't collapse onto Mercury. Are you saying that it depends on the frequency of the photon whether this can happen or how large it gets?
