I agree with your assessment of the facts except to say that since all matter particles as well as all bosons are made from the same string/waves (Ultrawave view), therefore the distinction between photons and other particles is less important. It is merely their geometrical configuration that makes them different. You may disagree with this idea, but we can still agree that total energy content will determine the possibilities for decay or collision products.
