How does it relate to (Einstein's) Cosmological constant? to string theory?

The good news is that its existence and basic characteristics are becoming better understood. The link is to a recently announced set of observations, including a link to a pre-print.

Something meaty for the theoreticians to start getting their teeth into.

Of course, this post really belongs in Cosmology, but it's still down.
