One experiment:
A quasar is observed (photons of radio frequencies) as it is seen to pass close to the line of sight from a radio telescope to the Sun (of course, it's the Earth's orbital motion around the Sun). The apparent position of the quasar changes (relative to the astronomical coordinate system, knows as FK5). If you need a link to the peer-reviewed paper(s) reporting this observation, I'd be happy to supply one.

Please be so kind as to describe, in quantative detail, what "surrounding electromagnetic properties of the atmosphere around" the Sun causes this apparent shift in the quasar's position.

Other experiments? I'd be happy to provide details.

Oh, relevance of GR? Observational details modelled ("explained" to some) with great accuracy (but the data stand alone; they are not dependent on GR).
