Correct. So this approach predicts ... the observed universe ... but offers a simple engineering image so - if correct - we can search more efficient for answers on other questions (like synchronicity by membrane conductivity/ causality) and build better measuring devices. In this concept the domain walls (cfr your link to HST - http://www.lbl.gov/ Science-Articles/Archive/Phys-HST-supernovae-sidebar1.html ) are the membrane or sub-branes. Space-holons: (quote)"partitioned space into distinct cells whose boundaries would have repulsive gravity, thus filling the role of dark energy."(end of quote). Indeed the membrane has 'the potency'. Quote: "For the cosmological constant, the vacuum — space itself — possesses a certain springiness," says Eric Linder, a cosmologist at Berkeley Lab and director of the Center for Cosmology and Spacetime Physics at Florida Atlantic University. "As you stretch it, you don't lose energy, you store extra energy in it just like a rubber band." Such springiness, whether of matter, energy, or space itself, is described mathematically by a term called the equation-of-state parameter ( w)." (end of quote). I use the word "stretchability" instead of "springiness". Extra thoughts. The speed of light (a photon:a holon-combination of membrane) may be limited to 300,000 km/s since it attains the maximum allowed membrane stretchability for it's combination. This may give us the possibility to calculate the maximal stretchability of the pure membrane. (maximal since it's based on the energy parameter in GR's equation). That will then be a basic gravity constant. In more-complex holons the multi-layering increases, and thus also the density, and the stretchability decreases. We observe this daily in very dense objects such as crystals: no stretchability. Therefor a minimum degree of stretchability is essential for 'life'. That makes 'water' is so important: it is multi-phase, has several bounding properties and can thus couple many other holons of different stretchability. So this mechanism applies on macro and micro level. Isn't that what we are looking for? dirk
