Re: 4 large dimensionsPosted by phobos on July 20, 19101 at 17:06:12: In Reply to: 4 large dimensions posted by Cooper on July 20, 19101 at 14:21:14: I don't think anyone has provided a completely satisfying answer as to WHY we live in d=4, but the mathematics and physics in d=4 is tremendously more interesting than in any other dimension. d=3 and 4 are the really difficult cases in topology, gravity is almost trivial in d<4, and Yang-Mills theory exhibits its most interesting phenomena in four dimensions. These aren't reasons, but they make the study interesting. phobos
