Need help for a film project i am working on!

Hello everyone,
I need some help for a student film i am working on. I won't bore you with the storyline for the movie but in order for it to work i need some advice. I need to know if the theory i have for the movie is in any way related to existing theories (so i can research them) or the string theory. Anyways, the universe is infinite. Meaning there are an infinite number and an infinite number of possible events. One universe could be almost identical to our own universe but maybe only differ on a very very very (very!) minute scale. This would be sort of a parallel universe. This universe would exist at the same point in space time as our own universe but in a different dimension or on a different level of the spectrum (?) Anyways, if anyone can shed some light on this or tell me of any other theories that are closely related to it i would greatly appreciate it. Once again this movie will be science fiction so not every detail has to already exist in a present theory but i would like to have a source of research. Once again, thank you everyone. Matt
