non-integer dimensions of physical quantitiesPosted by ceco on October 10, 2003 at 09:49:25: In Reply to: Re: non-integer dimensions of physical or non-physical quantities posted by dr_syed_ameen2000 on October 09, 2003 at 16:22:29: Thanks dr_syed_ameen2000! Yes, to certain extent I am not satisfied. Your approach is (i) rather philosophical while I am looking for something more specific, and (ii) "quantity" is not defined exclusively as an entity having physical properties, but rather as something that can be measured. Further, with respect to (ii), what can be measured depends on our understanding of "measurement", or our definition of measurement. These days it is commonly accepted that some things in fields as economics and psychology (specifically, psychometrics) can be measured, and therefore such things can be treated as quantities. So this is what I meant as non-physical quantities. The next issue in my inquiry is about dimensions of such quantities, and the next one is about the exponents of such dimensions, specifically integer or non-integer. So, this is basically what I am interested in. Thanks again, Ceco Follow Ups: (Reload page to see most recent)
