I'm not sure I followed all that. You lost me about where you introduced H. But I do have this thought,which may have something to do with your discussion. The Regge slope parameter, written alpha', in string theory has dimensions L^2. Polchinski says it is "the square of the charactristic length scale of perturbative string theory" and notes "The tension of the fundamental string is 1/2 pi alpha'."
