Dickt, The center of a circle is a geometric point. The circumference is a length. Euclid's theory of proportions (Book X, actually due to Eudoxos) does not permit proportions between these different categories of geometric object. To have said otherwise, would have been a discrete issue?:) You see, in the geometrical expression of a string, (a point and its radius) depends on the strings length, hence the size of the circle. That has a energy value. In particle definiton we see strings and their oscillations as a energy value. No longer as a discrete matter, but define in a string way? Would this be correct Dickt? Sol
