Re: EXPERIMENTAL DETERMINATION OF AREA OF CIRCLE & VALUE OF piPosted by moorglade on May 01, 2003 at 20:33:31: In Reply to: Re: EXPERIMENTAL DETERMINATION OF AREA OF CIRCLE & VALUE OF pi posted by dr_syed_ameen2000 on May 01, 2003 at 14:13:07: Dr there are a number of strange and wonderous things that emminate from within one's mind, whilst peering through the door that is Geometry. I found many a mystical representations when converting the formula of Pi into the realms of Mathematics. The first obvious thing for the number of Pi is that '3' represents one end of the 'string', and is static and never changes. The following numbers of Pi after 3 ie 14159............are dynamical in that they are the quantities that change for any circumference. Numbers represent the 'Dimensionality' of what is being investigated and seperated into components of Geometric Representations. The number three associates a three dimensional quantity in fixed space, whilst the following digits connects it to another Quantity. Ok lets represent a three dimensional 'volume of space', firstly I am going to ask you to do your experiment form your original posting again, but this time using the Number Pi up to lets say three digits:3.141 Now taking your cylinder, you draw the outline on paper using a 'one-dimensional line', then draw another two 'one-dimensional lines' so that they intersect at the center, so one line is vertical the other horizontal thus (+) remove the circumference so you have co-ordinate markings of just vertical and horizontal lines thus + This is still not a three dimensional, but I want to keep this simple for the time being. Ok Dr now on your piece of paper you should have a 'cross' of lines, now write the numbers of Pi this way, place the number 3 at each of the four endpoints of your lines. Now write the number 1 one third of the way along each line after the number three. Now write the number 4 two thirds along each line, after number one. This is what you need to examine for the time being, I have left out the obvious end-game product, as I think you will crack the numbers out yourself, just examine the process, and what is represented! See if you can work out the obvious mistake (deliberate on my part for now). I will continue, after I have left you to number-crunch the details for a day or so.
