Your insistance on staying with first tier schools in New England makes it difficult. They usually don't have to make exceptions because they're oversubscribed already.

My thought would be to get as much physics oriented math as possible in your next two (upper division) years, and start now to look for a place in grad schol with an applied math or mathematical physics orientation. Widen your scope to non-first tier schools as well as your favored ivy league. If you're trying for a parlay, it's foolish to over-limit yourself.

See about switching concentrations in your first or second year of grad school. This will largely depend on personalities, you will have to convince some particular professor that you want to come to work with him, and furthermore convince him that you will bring him skills which he will value. Here's where the math may pay off, but remember, physicists (well most physicists) are less interested in fancy proofs than they are in fancy manipulation of expressions.
