basic string theory question

Is a string , per say connects one structure with gravity and take another structure with gravity, as the actions of how the gravities react when they attract each other? or the point were a gravitational cycle (or photon?) connects to another, connecting to another that defines it, connecting to another that defines it and so on? Or what exactly the concept it’s trying to give? That things just connect? Connecting what could be seen as cycles or strings through dimensions?
